Versatile and well-rounded; 2 words I try to live up to when behind the turntables. As a 13 year “vet”, I hone the skills to rock any crowd, any location, any time.
After moving down to Los Angeles from Sacramento, I entered and won the Myspace.com/BPM Magazine “Stylus in the Rough” DJ contest. The prize package included DJing at some of LA’s best parties and opening up for the town’s best DJs, including Z-Trip, Steve Aoki and DJ AM. In addition to the gigs, I claimed a spot on the cover of BPM Magazine’s 2007 January issue. With the recent buzz and publicity I decided to kick it into full gear and DJ full-time. This was a pinnacle moment in my career and fortunately it has worked out as I have steadily been working the club scene up and down California as well as Las Vegas. With 2009 half way over, my goal is to invade new clubs/venues and build positive relations with promoters and club owners alike. Below is an abbreviated version of my bio.
Nowadays, everyone is a DJ. Along with this influx comes an increase in disappointing club nights courtesy of the DJ. Let’s face it, most DJs today are human ipod shuffles who lack originality and are simply unknowledgeable about music. And then there are the select few- the few who really know how to control the masses with unparalleled programming and record selection. This is the group I rock for. With an extensive record collection, there’s an uncanniness I try to deliver in each of my sets. Not constricting to a single genre, I try to spread my passion for good music every time I play out.
Born and raised in Merced, California, (best known for frequently appearing on America’s Most Wanted) I started collecting records and DJing with a group of hip hop aficionados in 1996. It wasn’t until September of 1998, while attending college in Sacramento, California, that I got my real start in this DJ thing. From that time forward, I have found myself handling a slew of musical endeavors ranging from promoting and performing at concerts and weekly events, to lecturing and hosting DJ workshops for students in the Sac Unified School District, to co-hosting a weekly radio show (KDVS 90.3 fm), to owning and operating Twelves Wax, Sacramento’s first hip hop record shop. From 1998-2006, I played a major role in and around the Sacramento scene. With this said, some of the most memorable parties and events can be linked to my name.
Notable clients I have worked with in the past few years include, The Los Angeles Lakers, The Food Network, Scion, Britney Spears, Nettwerk Records, Lucie Liu, Red Bull energy drink, Rockstar Energery Drink, Def Jam Recordings, Myspace.com, BPM Magazine, Adidas, Playboy, NFL, Vitamin Water and Vapors magazine.
Current residencies include, Arterra Lounge in San Diego, Luckystrike Lanes in LA and Orange County, Sky Bar in West Hollywood with DJ Sense, Crown Bar in West Hollywood, Flamingo Pool in Las Vegas, The Partisan in Merced, CA, and Elevate Lounge with DJ Sense in Los Angeles. (One day I will continually update my monthly schedule).
Lastly, I feel music is the one form of expression that can break down all barriers and bring people from all walks of life together for one reason, to enjoy life. I believe it is any DJ’s civil duty and responsibility to handle this.
